PURPOSE AND MAIN TASKS

BTR-80 armored carrier is a combat wheeled vehicle designed for transportation of motorized infantry units and their fire support at the battle field, fighting from the vehicle.
 
When BTR-80 was designed, the experience of BTR-60 and BTR-70 operation and combat employment under different natural and climatic conditions worldwide was used.
 

SPECIFIC FEATURES

BTR-80 has the following performance features:
  • BTR-80 armament includes coaxial heavy 14.5 mm VHTMG machine gun and 7.62 mm ATGM machine gun;
  • front BTR hull part accommodates the control compartment, the central part - the assault and combat compartments, the rear vehicle part - motor and gearing system compartment;
  • side doors ensure boarding and de-boarding the crew from any hull side covered by the armor and even in the process of vehicle movement.
